RESTING OUR ROOTS TO BEAR LASTING FRUITS

Truly it is the company that matters. As cliché as this may sound, our recent teachers retreat was amazing! God’s presence accompanied us in every session. This meaningful retreat flew by quickly. God put all of us in the same room for one purpose – to rest our roots so that we can bear lasting fruits. Each one of us made time to be there and I think I could speak for everyone that it was a rejuvenating break.

We had five sessions over three days – Rooted, Nourished, Faithful, Fruitful and Forward. Each session eased in naturally. We talked, played, laughed and listened to one another. During our Fun Night on the first day, I laughed so much I had to massage my cheeks to relieve the spasms. We bonded over the few days. In His presence, we worshipped, meditated, prayed and listened to His heartbeat.

Pastor Priscilla ran through four sessions with us. We were coached by Ms Victoria Wong on the third session – Faithful – for three hours. Yes, three hours but what an amazing time we had! We had a lot of exchanges and Ms Victoria was totally attentive to our struggles.

As promised (in our closing reflection), one action I would try after this retreat is the Hook-Book-Look-Took approach to teaching.

Hook-Book-Look-Took. Do you want to know more? Ask Pastor Priscilla.

Pastor Priscilla rocks!

This was my first Teachers’ retreat, and it was a joy to plan it together with Adanna, our new Children’s Ministry Worker, who brought her many gifts—planting, painting, music, and games—to beautifully tie everything together. I’m thankful for every teacher and helper who made time to be still, have fun, and be equipped for His service.

Coming from six different classes, I expected it to take time for everyone to warm up, but the group quickly came together with warmth, kindness, and an open spirit—encouraging one another and sharing generously from their experiences.

But the 3D/2N retreat felt insufficient to cover everything we wanted to cover, but that’s okay. Ministry is a long journey, and we will continue to serve, encourage, and learn together. All glory to God for such a dedicated team, and I look forward to welcoming more to join us next time.
