MEANINGFUL PICNIC FOR PARENTS & KIDS

By Phoebe Lim

On March 7, a small group of families from our Parenting & Family Life Ministry gathered at Metropolitan Park Kepong for a morning of fun and connection. There were seven families comprising 16 adults and nine pre-school kids.

It was heartening, just seeing the kids running around and playing together so freely. It didn’t take long for them to warm up and soon, they were chasing bubbles, exploring, and just being kids. Meanwhile, the parents had their time catching up, and having conversations without the need to rush off somewhere, while keeping their eyes on the kids.

The organising team kept things simple with a few games, such as a mini treasure hunt, blowing bubbles, and passing the hula hoop. Nothing fanciful, but everyone got involved and there were lots of laughs along the way.

It’s one of those mornings where nothing big happened , yet something meaningful did – just families spending time together, getting to know one another a little better, and being reminded that we’re not doing this parenting journey alone.
