Death seems to be a trending subject. Over 170 people registered for the second session of Death Before Lunch event, more than the 115 who joined the first session, showing just how important it is to prepare for the inevitable. This second session covered three key areas: making a will, organising our assets and liabilities, and decluttering.
Daniel Yeoh, a lawyer, emphasised the importance of having a clear will to avoid legal disputes among loved ones. He reminded us that a will is a final act of love and care, ensuring our wishes are respected. Alan Au stressed the need to organise and document our assets, liabilities, and important papers so that our families don’t have to hunt for them later.
Lily Lee and Kung Beng Hong spoke about decluttering. Lily encouraged everyone to start clearing out unnecessary items now, so that loved ones aren’t left to sort through years of accumulated stuff. Beng Hong shared how he had been decluttering for years and urged the attendees to stop accumulating and be content with what they have now.
The central message was clear: by getting our house in order now, we make it easier on our loved ones later. The session was a valuable reminder that these practical steps – though not glamorous – can save a lot of stress and heartache in the future.
The attendees were fully engaged throughout the talks, thanks to the engaging speakers who told personal stories to hit home their points. During the lunch held after the event, many expressed their appreciation for the information shared, and said they looked forward to the third session.

P/S: Stay tuned for our third session of Death Before Lunch, to be held on July 16. We’ll talk about regrets, relationships and release so that we can depart in peace.
