From June 27 to 29, 350 of us at PJEFC gathered for our first-ever Disciple Making Conference (DMC). It was inspiring to see so many eager to be challenged, equipped, and sent out as faithful disciples of Jesus.
Our keynote speaker, Dr Tan Soo-Inn, led three main sessions covering the what, why, who, when, and how of disciple-making. His teaching was both profound and practical, laying a strong foundation for the conference. To complement the sessions, participants had the opportunity to attend two breakout workshops from 16 diverse options. Topics ranged from “Can I ChatGPT disciple-making?” to “There’s still fuel left in the tank” and the intriguingly titled “Will I get cancelled if I disciple my colleagues?” This sparked lively discussion and fresh insights for all ages and stages of faith.
Planning this event was a real team effort. Months before, our core team met regularly to plan every detail—from logistics to content. It was one of the most efficient and joyful teams I’ve served with, and it was a blessing to grow closer as we worked together for the Lord.
One personal highlight was being placed in groups with people from different generations, allowing me to connect with fellow believers I might not have met otherwise. I also enjoyed refereeing the icebreaker games. It was refreshing (and entertaining) to see how energetic (and competitive!) our congregation can be.
Matthew 28:18-20 reminds us of Jesus’ call:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always…”
What a privilege to be part of this mission together!
