A GLIMPSE OF THE NEPAL MISSION TRIP

By LiLy

You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Grateful for life.

PJEFC’s mission trip to Bhaktapur, Nepal, Dec. 11 to 18, 2025, was a spiritually enriching experience of God’s amazing work and blessings in a country I hadn’t been to. The weather and environment were really tough, but it was a great lesson in perseverance, with the Lord’s enabling and encouragement from the other team members. My faith was definitely deepened by the wonderful testimonies of the local churches and Christians in Nepal.

Pastor Hari’s Home Church

A poor small village where most young adults work abroad, leaving the elderly and children behind. God blessed and used Pr Hari’s family to establish a church in their home. Currently, about 30–40 people, mainly their neighbours and their children, attend the Sunday worship service. Besides Pr Hari’s family, another entire family has come to faith. Here, transcending age, skin color, culture, and wealth, we are all the same in Jesus Christ. This is especially meaningful in a caste culture where those of the higher castes do not mingle with those below.

I heard of the miraculous healing of Ruben, Pr Hari’s youngest son, who fell from the third-floor balcony of their house when he was 19 months old, yet he survived and is completely normal today. This is truly God’s work and protection. He is now 8 years old, a handsome, active boy, and a Christian—a wonderful testimony that paved the way for Pr Hari to establish a home church and preach the gospel. The arrival of our mission team greatly encouraged Pr Hari’s family church, both materially and spiritually. Although materially lacking and surrounded by Hindu devotees, Pr Hari remains deeply grateful for God’s blessings and for using him to share the gospel.

“Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-29 NIV)

Building the Church

The church is located in a residential area of Kathmandu, surrounded by closely adjacent homes. A nearby household once sued the church’s ministry. The church’s land is rented by the pastor, Timothy KC, from his foster father-in-law for a period of 15 years. A brother donated USD20,000 to construct the building, and the current 100 good-quality chairs in the church were donated by another brother.

Chautari Community Church

This is another house church in the ancient city of Dhumbar Square, also surrounded by tightly packed residential houses. Only residents of the ancient city can buy and sell land here, and a single plot of land usually has 4–5 titleholders, making it extremely difficult to purchase a piece of land. However, nothing is impossible with God. This plot was eventually purchased by the pastor, Richan, and a 4-storey building was later constructed. The third floor is currently used for Sunday worship. The small space of just over 30 square meters can surprisingly accommodate 80 people sitting on the floor. The pastor’s wife is also very skillful; all the Christmas decorations were handmade by her and are very exquisite. The pastor’s preaching of the gospel focused on a unified new identity in Christ, transcending various ethnicities.

Jesus went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” (John 6:65 NIV)

Nepalese Christian Support Organisation

An organisation in Kathmandu that connects returning Nepali Christians (after working abroad) with suitable churches and helps with practical issues like deducted wages, visas, and repatriation.

Korean Missionary Organization

We had dinner with Pastor Jin and his 15-year-old son at the restaurant they own. Pr Jin has been in Nepal for 20 years, using the restaurant and language school as platforms for evangelism, which also allows him to obtain a long-term residency visa. The workers hired are all locals, and the gospel is spread this way.

Great Source of Gratitude

A great source of gratitude this time is that my son, Rock, was actively involved in this mission trip. The village conditions and environment were a huge challenge for him, but he did well in the children’s ministry and made a decision to receive Jesus as his Lord and Saviour under the guidance of Pr Jeremy. Thank God for His grace. (Read his testimony here)

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” (John 14:6-7 NIV)

“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:3 NIV)

You know the saying love another.
