My name is Celes, I was part of the committee in charge of the activities for CUG’s International Friends Night. The objective of this event was outreach but with a cultural twist. So, we brought in Malaysian traditional snacks and games for guests to experience during the event. Many international students were interested to learn more about Malaysia’s cultural games and even participated in most of them, such as congkak, batu seremban and carrom. Congkak was a hit, judging from the congkak station which was always crowded with people either participating or watching.
Overall, both the guests and CUG members had a great time of fellowship and learning more about one another’s culture. This event was rare for CUG but I think we should do it more often! It not only encouraged us to learn about different cultures but also spread God’s love to a broad range of people.
