Ministry Night was a big highlight for me in camp, because I was actually anxious before the session. And honestly, it was strange for me, because last year’s ministry night was fun. But every year, I would have this recurring fear before ministry night, that it’s going to be lonely and sad and that I would be crying alone in the corner. I guess I was feeling this way because I was quite distant from God the past few months prior to camp, and I was scared that I was going to feel these emotions again. But this year’s ministry night wasn’t like how I expected it to be, because I felt a sense of needing to worship daily after that night. I also continued to read the Bible and talk to God throughout the day.
I also learned a lot from our last camp session. We did a lot of prayer and reflection during that session and I found out there were so many things that I could give thanks to God for and I do that every day now. There was one part of the session where we placed our prayers anonymously on a paper and stuck it on to a board and no one could see who picked whose prayer. So it’s basically anonymous prayers. I had two prayers on that board and whoever the two people that prayed for me were, thank you, because I can feel your prayers.
I also became closer to God through worship. It happened when I led the worship for the first time. I thought that I wouldn’t be able to do it because at the back of my mind, it’s always “What if I fail? What if I just can’t do it?” But I remember Adrisa telling me back in our dorm room that it was all for God. And that was the first time I just let Jesus take the wheel and I found peace through worshipping God. This has encouraged me to join the Impact worship team.
Thank you to all the people who were involved in making Impact Camp 2024 happen. This year’s camp was unforgettable, so thank you. And of course, thank you God for bringing me from the darkness into the light!
