TAKING THINGS FOR GRANTED

By Ana Cing Yee

On Sunday 28th January, I had the privilege of listening to Peter Harris from A Rocha on Creation Care. His message was a tight slap to awaken me, if not everyone else in the PJEFC main sanctuary. I reflected on it and I hope you will too.

When God decided to create the world, were we humans part of His plan? When God was done with heaven, earth, sky, sea, sun, moon, stars and all creatures, He made us.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” -Genesis 1:26

So, we came last yet we were given the mandate to rule over all His creation. Remember, God is the King of kings, the Lord of lords. Sadly, humanity has forgotten this. We live as the ungrateful king over everything that God has created. We are engrossed with our own creation and we forsake God’s creation. All living things are crying out yet we are oblivious and charge forward.

Someone will do it.

I have no choice.

If not, then what?

We have lived by these selfish principles, and many more, for the longest time. When are we going to live according to God’s blueprint? We must speak up for nature, which is suffering. We must act responsibly. We must care for nature and all of God’s creation as we are living on the same earth, in the same ecosystem.

Men and women, let’s proclaim our love for God. Take one step forward to care for His creation today by recycling, reusing and reducing.
