GETTING TO KNOW SOME 2025 IMPACT YOUTH COMMIES

Impact Youth, our community for teens, is proud to present our new committee for 2025! Fondly referred to as “Impact commies” (commie is short for committee member), this group of enthusiastic teenagers lead the weekly service, and work with facilitators to serve, plan, organize and reach out to their friends.

This year, almost all the commies are first-timers, with no prior experience, but they each have a big heart for God and for Impact, and are willing to put their hands to the plough and persevere in service. Through Kem Tahanan, the committee training camp in Dec . 2024,  they explored the  “why” of service, delved into the different roles and expectations of a commie, engaged in team building and problem-solving skills, and learned some basic organization skills. Training is an ongoing process, as the facilitators will closely guide and coach them as they serve. We’re happy to be able to work with them and watch them grow!

Here’s a little bit about the team:

Taniya, 16
I’m this year’s president. Other than checking on my fellow teammates to see whether they’ve completed their tasks to make sure Impact runs smoothly, and communicating with my facis (short for facilitators) regarding important topics, I also help with Impact’s worship team arrangements (think of Ascend, but on a smaller scale).

My prayer for Impact is that everyone will continue to grow together, support one another, and create a space where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and inspired. Whether it’s through worship, events, small group activities, or just everyday conversations, my prayer for Impact Youth is that it will be a place where we all experience God’s love in a real and personal way.

Kendrick, 17
I’m Impact’s special ops commie. This means working alongside my amazing special ops facis to plan all the ice breakers and main games for Impact special occasions.

Initially, I was hesitant about embracing the role of a commie because I wasn’t sure about making such a big commitment although I did want to make an impact in Impact.  However, a conversation with my good friend Nicholas encouraged me to take up the challenge. This kinda reminded me of one of my favourite movie quotes: “If not you, who else will?”

My biggest challenge is communicating with the people in charge and I’m working on this. My faith in Jesus has definitely grown a lot  through the time spent as a commie and even just as a regular Impacter, my prayer for Impact is that everyone will always attend Impact and it will be the second home that everyone will love.

Cladys, 14
I’m the hospitality commie! You might be asking: “Hmmm… What’s hospitality commie?” Let me explain.  I help people feel welcomed at Impact. My tasks include preparing goodie bags, celebrating monthly birthdays with cream puffs and cupcakes, and anything else to help the youths feel at home and loved.

Being in Impact Youth has really improved my teamwork skills with the other facis & commies. And most importantly, it has deepened my faith through our Impact Youth prayers, discussions, special ops activities… and others. In conclusion, I believe that God is my everything. With His leading, I can do anything and break through all the challenges in life.

Kaylee, 14
I’m the publicity commie! Everything you see on Impact social media is from me, with the gracious help from Tifena of course. What would I do without her proofreading my Impact blast text messages, or Instagram caption posts, promo posters, etc.?

My favourite memory of Impact is serving together with my friends during Impact’s special ops soup kitchen! It was a joy to cut potatoes, cry over onions and scoop food at super speed!
