By Amanda, Impact Youth Camp 2024 Facilitator
This was my first time as a facilitator at a youth camp. So, when Karlynn first asked whether I would like to join Impact Camp as a group facilitator, I panicked slightly as I don’t think I’m very good with youths (I am a single child). I was scared that I would be a bad facilitator, and wouldn’t be able to guide them during discussions. However, I decided to take a few weeks to pray and think about it and ultimately came to the conclusion – why not give it a shot?
Attending Impact Camp as a facilitator for the first time was such a surreal experience. From a facilitator’s perspective, we were very encouraged by the sharings we heard throughout camp . As the days passed, the youths started to ask deeper questions during sessions while sharing their very personal stories. Many of them also stepped up to take charge during discussion, games and some even served in the camp as part of the worship team or committee. Although we could see God moving throughout the camp, Ministry Night was especially special as we saw the youths’ hunger for God and choosing to follow Him. They were also going around praying for one another, giving out tissues to those who needed them. Seeing this definitely reminded me of God’s love and plans for all of us.
Despite the physical tiredness after the camp, I am so thankful to God for giving me this opportunity to join the camp and serve Him and His community. Also, I want to give a special shoutout to all the fellow facilitators. You guys are so dedicated and hardworking in planning this camp and the usual Saturday meetings. I really couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with.
For all those who are now feeling inspired and wishing you came for camp this year, don’t worry there’ll be another one next year. Or if you’re in college/university, do attend the CUG camp. Lastly, let’s all carry on praying that God will continue to fan the flame that He has started in the lives of the youths, that all of them will grow closer to Him in their own way.
