STRETCHER BEARERS
ONLINE DIALOGUE SERIES 2025

ABOUT

In John 10:10, Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Jesus also said in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

The purpose of this series is to develop an informed and supportive community, the “stretcher-bearers”, who empowers people to live well in Christ despite trying circumstances. In so doing, this community of “stretcher-bearers” aspires to represent Christ as the Wounded Saviour in whom all human brokenness will find complete restoration, even in situations where physical and/or emotional brokenness persist.

This series aims to:

  1. provide a safe space to talk about mental health and its various challenges,
  2. facilitate community mental health literacy, and
  3. empower the community to provide support for individuals with mental health challenges and their care partners.

This series consists of monthly seminars and dialogues on community mental health care. All sessions are held monthly on Saturdays, 9:00AM – 11:30AM via Zoom.

This series is open to:

  • Anyone with an interest in mental health
  • Carers of someone with mental health challenges
  • Anyone interested in learning how to recognize and support individuals experiencing mental ill-health

The first session will take place on 1st March 2025.

FAQ

SB began as a response to a heartfelt need. After a well-received pilot session, the series was launched in 2016 to provide guidance and practical support for those walking alongside loved ones facing mental health challenges. More than just sharing information, these sessions aimed to build a compassionate community—a group of “stretcher-bearers” committed to encouraging one another to live well in Christ, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. Little did they know, this was just the beginning of something much bigger.

In 2018, SB expanded into a 10-month series of 1.5-hour sessions, held annually, drawing an average of 50 participants each time.

Then, in 2021, when the pandemic disrupted in-person gatherings, SB adapted into an online dialogue series. This shift made it more accessible than ever, drawing an average of 200 participants each session.

Now, in 2025, SB is making a return! With new topics and fresh perspectives from new speakers and facilitators, it’s ready to continue the journey of lifting each other up. Whether you’ve been part of SB before or are joining for the first time, you’ll find a safe space to learn, share and support one another.
