“How have you helped someone move to the right?” At our SPO (Senior Pastor Office) and Board meetings, we will recount our most recent stories. As servant leaders, we must “walk the talk” and passionately live and model our disciple making ministry. We tell of daily opportunities and missed opportunities. Some of us are better at seizing the opportunities, viewing each encounter with people as God-appointed. One by one, we will share our personal stories to “stir up one another to love and good works”(Hebrew 10: 24) and to “encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thess 5:11).

The term “moving people to the right” should become instinctively familiar as we execute our vision to make discipleship the single dominant culture in PJEFC. That means, all our ministries and our personal lives are to center around disciple making. Our prayer is that 200 people will be won and nurtured for Christ in the next 5 years.

The framework to make PJEFC a discipleship making church is this: Disciples are made through the “4P & 4E” ministry. Through the Persevering Proclamation of the Word of God by the People of God in Prayerful Dependence on the Holy Spirit (4Ps), and the steps that facilitates the 4P ministry are Engage, Evangelize, Establish and Equip (4Es).

We help people to move to the right along the 4Es. This is best illustrated by the diagram below.

“Helping someone to move to the right” along the 4Es is a daily experience of faith to me. Each day is filled with opportunities when I view through the eyes of faith. It could simply be “engaging” a non believer friend who has little knowledge of Christianity on the Christian view on creation, the cross, resurrection and life after death (a popular topic). Or “evangelize” someone who has knowledge but not yet make a commitment. For example, my elder brother was recently “engaged & evangelized” during a fishing outing. Together with fellow Christian brothers, I helped him “take a step to the right.”

In face to face or phone conversations or WhatsApp text with believers, we can help move one another to the right through a prayer or an appropriate bible verse. And I hope, through this write up, I have “establish and equip” you in some way and have helped you take a step to the right.

As I help someone move to the right, I too am moved to the right. Because while I am engaging in this process, simultaneously I am praying and depending on the Holy Spirit for the wise words, when/what to say and when to listen. I am praying to God to bring to my mind the appropriate bible verse to share. I am conscious of the presence of the Holy Spirit leading me.

Philippians 3:17 “Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us.” A role model is essential in Christian discipleship. I pray you will intentionally share your own and listen to others’ stories of helping to move people to the right.

Let us talk the walk!
